"Kande-Kandea will be organized to welcome the participants of Sail Morotai."
Wangiwangi (ANTARA News) - In a bid to support the Sail Morotai 2012, the Wakatobi District Government of the Southeast Sulawesi province has made preparations to welcome the participants of the yacht rally who are expected to stopover at the district, a local official said.

"We have prepared several art and cultural performances to welcome the participants of Sail Morotai yacht rally who will stopover at the Wakatobi district later," explained Wakatobi Tourism and Cultural Office Chief Tawakal here on Monday.

He mentioned that the Kabuenga and Kande-Kandea art performances were among the cultural attractions that would be staged to entertain the participants of Sail Morotai in Wakatobi.

According to Tawakal, the Kabuenga art performance is a tradition that is held every year in Wakatobi.

"In this cultural performance, men and women who intend to live together are placed in the middle of an open field at a dance performance which is witnessed by one and all," Tawakal explained.

He added that Kande-Kadea performance was a tradition of the Wakatobi people to welcome and honor guests with various local traditional foods.

Tawakal said that beautiful women of Wakatobi would offer various local food dishes to the honored Sail Morotai participants who would choose food according to their taste.

"Thus, Kande-Kandea will be organized to welcome the participants of Sail Morotai to entertain them as part of the rally," Tawakal noted.

He pointed out that the folk festival would also include "Bangka Mbule-mbule" which will see the participation of many traditional fishing boats.

"Without revealing much, I'll say that we are ready to welcome the participants of Sail Morotai yacht rally with great fervor," Tawakal concluded.
