Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The nation`s flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has the highest record in on-time performance (OTP) in domestic flights, an official said.

Garuda topped five other airlines having a market share of more than 3 percent in domestic services, chief spokesman of the air transport director general Yennesi Rosita said.

Timeliness has significant effect on the smoothness of services both by the airlines and the port operator, Yennesi said here on Tuesday.

She said Garuda led in timeliness with an OTP of 85.46 percent , followed by Wings Air with OTP of 83.77 percent.

Other airlines surveyed by the transport ministry in the first six months of the year included Sriwijaya Air with OTP of 78.87 percent, Lion Air 75.14 percent, Batavia Air 70.6 percent and Merpati Nusantara Airlines 66.31 percent.

Lion Air led in market share . The country`s largest private airline has a market share of 41.48 percent, followed by Garuda with a market share of 22.76 percent, Sriwijaya Air 12.26 percent, Batavia Air 11.22 percent, Merpati 3.63 percent and Wings Air 3.32 percent.

Cancelled flights were not considered in giving the rate of OTP, Yennesi said. (ASG/A014)
