The event held as a side event of activities to mark the 17th National Technology Awakening Day (Hakteknas) is aimed at generating a culture of innovations among the people, the minister said.
"The exhibition is expected to provide new experience and understanding about science and technology in which Indonesia has a lot of technological innovations," Gusti said.
Ritech Expo 2012 displays the results of researches and innovations carried out by various research institutions from a number of ministries, local administrations, universities and the Indonesian science and technology activist.
The expo which has a total of 100 outlets, 80 indoor stands and 20 outdoor stands will be held for four days from August 8 to 11.
The research and development institutions participating in the exhibition include shipbuilding company PT PAL Indonesia, national electronic institution PT LEN, state electricity company PT PLN, the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), vocational high school SMKN 4 Bandung, Edwar Technology, cosmetics company Sari Ayu, state construction company PT Wika, and the wife solidarity organizations of the Research and Technology Ministry and the Indonesian cabinet.
The other participants are PT Dahana (state-owned mining, oil and gas, construction services company), PT Pindad (state weapons manufacturer), the Indonesian Police`s research and development division, South Sumatra research and development institution, Batan (national nuclear agency), Lapan (national aeronautical institution).
The expo also displays the results of research funded by the Ministry of Research and Technology through the Research and Engineering Capacity Improvement (PKPP).
Meanwhile, some innovations put on display include Jabiru aircraft owned by vocational high school SMKN 12 Bandung, SNI Genap bus owned by BSN (national standardization agency), Zebra Cendekia bus owned by Central Java regional police. (LWA/BSR/S012)
