We are one of the first groups being allowed to enter there," Kalla stated.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Myanmar President U Thein Sein received Indonesian former vice president M Jusuf Kalla in his presidential palace in Nay Pyi Taw, Friday, and welcomed his plan to see Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine Province.
The Myanmar government appreciated the initiative of Kalla, currently the chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), to help deal with Rohingya ethnic minority problem, PMI said in a press statement.
Kalla and his entourage which includes former Indonesian ambassador to Russia Hamid Awaluddin, Indonesian Ambassador to Myanmar S Sumarsono, Assistance to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)`s Secretary General Atta Abdul Mannan, and Qatar`s Red Crescent President Mohamed Ghanim Al-Maadheed, are currently on a visit to Mynamar.
The Myanmar leader told the Indonesian guests that the media had regretfully reported that the ethnic conflict in Rakhine had turned into a sectarian conflict.
Kalla said the biased reporting about the conflict was allegedly because the Myanmar government was not transparent. The International community thus misunderstood the problem prevailing in Rakhine Province.
