Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Thailand`s army chief, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, is currently on a visit to Indonesia, which is aimed at increasing defence cooperation between the two countries.

He met with his Indonesian counterpart, General Pramono Edhie Wibowo, at the army headquarters here on Thursday.

General Prayuth also visited the Indonesian Defence Forces (TNI) headquarters and the Ministry of Defence later in the day.

During his visit to the TNI headquarters, he was awarded a "Kartika Eka Paksi Utama" star for his efforts to boost cooperation between the two countries` armies in the fields of training and education.

At the Ministry of Defense, he was received by Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro.

The Thai army chief`s visit to Indonesia was aimed at improving bilateral relations and stepping up cooperation in defense, including a joint exercise between the two countries` special forces.

At the Ministry of Defense, General Prayuth praised Indonesia for offering the "Package of Solutions" that helped resolve problems between Thailand and Cambodia.
