Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) interrogated Brigadier General Didik Purnomo here on Monday, in connection with a graft case involving the purchase of driving simulators for the Traffic Police Corps.

"Today, Brigadier General Didik will be questioned at the National Police Headquarters detention centre," KPK spokesman Johan Budi said earlier.

Didik is expected to give his testimony on the former chief of Traffic Police Corps, Inspector General Djoko Susilo, who is the prime suspect, he added.

However, Johan gave no indication that KPK would also question National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo.

"As of now, KPK has no plans to interrogate the national police chief," he said.

KPK has so far grilled several police officers in connection with the alleged corruption involving the procurement of driving simulators, worth Rp196.8 billion.

Four of them are Adjunct Senior Commissioner Wandi Rustiwan, Commissioner Ni Nyoman Suwartini, Commissioner Endah Purwaningsih and Adjunct Senior Commissioner Wishnu Buddhaya - all of whom are procurement committee members.

The anti-graft agency has also questioned Adjunct Senior Commissioner Indra Darmawan Irianto (the chief of the sub-directorate of education and engineering at the Central Java Directorate of Traffic), Adjunct Senior Commissioner Susilo Wardono (the head of Temanggung resort police) and Adjunct Senior Commissioner Heru Trisasono (Kebumen resort police chief).

On July 27, KPK named four high-ranking officials - Inspector General Djoko Susilo, Brigadier General Didik Purnomo, Budi Susanto, the president director of PT Citra Mandiri Metalindo Abadi (PT CMMA), the winning bidder of the project, and Sukotjo S Bambang, the director of PT Inovasi Teknologi Indonesia, a sub-contractor of PT CMMA - as suspects.

On August 1, the National Police Crime Investigation Agency also named five suspects in the case: Didik, Budi, Sukotjo, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Teddy Rusmawan (as chief of simulator procurement committee) and Commissioner Legimo (as treasurer of the Traffic Police Corps).

The agency has kept in custody Brigadier General Didik, Teddy Rusmawan and Legimo at Brimob police detention centre.

Another suspect, Budi Susanto, has been placed at the agency`s detention cell.

Meanwhile, Sukotjo S Bambang was sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment after being convicted in a separate case. He was found guilty of marking up the project's value.

The Crime Investigation Agency has so far summoned Djoko Susilo twice for giving testimony in relation to other suspects.(*)
