It is not rare that injured victims died because of delay in treatment over financial matter...
Bekasi (ANTARA News) - Twelve government and privately owned hospitals in Bekasi will provide free medical treatment for victims of traffic accidents in their respective areas.

The 12 hospitals include the Bekasi City government hospital, Mitra Keluarga Barat and Mitra Keluarga Timur, Elizabet, Ananda, Bella, Global, Seto Hasbadi, Mekarsari, Rawalumbu and Hermina.

"The 12 hospitals have signed an agreement to provide immediate treatment for traffic accident victims without asking for payment," Comr. Imam Pribadi Santoso, head of the police traffic unit of Bekasi, said on Thursday.

Imam said there were 64 known cases of traffic accidents in Bekasi with 12 people killed on the average every year.

"It is not rare that injured victims died because of delay in treatment over financial matter," he said.

With the agreement any victim of traffic accidents could be rushed to nearest one of the 12 hospitals to get immediate treatment, he said.

"They will be given priority in medical treatment," he added.

The hospitals will asked for the compensation from the state owned traffic accident insurance firm PT PT Jasa Raharja with confirmation from police that the patient is a traffic accident victim.

Head of PT Jasa Raharja of West Java branch Amin A Sukmana said so far this year the company has paid Rp200 billion in insurance against traffic accidents including Rp2.2 billion for beneficiaries in Bekasi.

He said Jasa Raharja will pay up to Rp10 million to hospital in compensation for medical treatment.
