London (ANTARA News) - The official opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) based in Szda 10-16, Tallin took place in Estonia and Indonesia joined the list of 30 nations which formerly had an office at the address.

The opening ceremony early this week also witnessed the introduction of Heldur Allese as the Honorary Consul of RI to the Republic of Estonia, in a function attended by 60 guests, a press statement of the Indonesian embassy in Finland said.

Former President of Estonia (2001-2006), Arnold Ruutel and his wife attended the ceremony as guests of honour. Other guests included members of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce, industry officials, Estonian Foreign Ministry officials and businessmen.

The opening ceremony began with renditions of the national anthems of both nations, followed by a speech by RI`s ambassador for Finland and Estonia, Elias Ginting, who submitted RI President`s Letter of Commission.

In his speech, Ginting thanked the Estonia government and submitted the exequatur to Allese, as well as an award for close cooperation between the countries.

Estonia has also opened an Honorary Consulate in Indonesia, based in Jakarta and Denpasar.

Ginting said that he expected the bilateral cooperation between the nations to be strengthened, particularly in the areas of investment, trade, tourism and education.

He added that the Consulate would support the protection of Indonesian citizens in Estonia.

A speech was also delivered by the general secretary of Estonia`s Foreign Ministry, Alar Streimann, followed by the submission of the original exequatur to Honorary Consul of RI, Heldur Allese .

Streimann appreciated the Indonesian Embassy for developing good relations between the two nations and hoped that they will progress.

Meanwhile, the new Honorary Consul Heldur Allese echoed the points delivered by Ambassador Ginting.

The ceremony was concluded by the opening of the sheath of placard by Ambassador Elias Ginting, Alar Streimann and Heldur Allese.

They also held discussions on business partnerships in the tourism sector, particularly concerning hoteliers, spa therapists and chefs.
