....even if I am governor of Jakarta, I would often come to Solo.Solo (ANTARA News) - Official letter about the resignation of Jakarta governor elect Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was sent to Home Affairs Minister on Tuesday.
Another letter has also been sent about the installation of deputy Mayor of Solo FX Hadi Rudyatmo (Rudy) as new mayor of the city.
The letters were sent after the City Council and Central Java Governor Bibit Waluyo approved Jokowi`s resignation and installation of Rudy .
Jokowi`s term as mayor of Solo should expire in 2015, but he has to resume service as new governor of Jakarta after winning the recent election with running mate Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok).
Chairman of the City Council YF Sukasno said here on Tuesday the plenary session on resignation of Jokowi and installation of Rudy went smoothly with acclamation.
Jokowi and Ahok would be respectively governor and vice governor of Jakarta for the next five years.
Solo will have to name a new deputy major a position left vacant with Rudy becoming a new mayor.
"We might have to deal with it later," YF Sukasno said.
Jokowi told the city`s officials there was no need to make a leave taking ceremony, saying "even if I am governor of Jakarta, I would often come to Solo."
Jokowi was born in Solo and has many relatives in the city .
"For seven years as mayor of Solo, I have never met problem in carrying out duties with the city council. I only felt that I was watched," he said.
