Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that the timing of police efforts as well as their method to legally process police commissioner Novel Baswedan was not right.

"I think the police action of seeking to conduct a legal process against police commissioner Novel Baswedan was not right in terms of timing as well as methodology," he said here on Monday.

Several police officers came to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters on Friday night, in an effort to arrest Novel Baswedan who is a KPK investigator on a charge of allegedly murdering a person several years ago.

Baswedan is currently investigating a corruption case allegedly involving Inspector General Djoko Susilo.

In view of that the police action has drawn protests from various quarters.

The police and KPK have recently been involved in a dispute over authority to settle the corruption case that also involves other police officers, linked to procurement of driving simulators.(*)
