"The reason behind their resignation is that they want to develop their career."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian State Police Headquarters said on Friday its six investigators have handed resignation letters to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leadership.
The Police Headquarters received copies of the resignation letters on Thursday evening, head of the public information bureau at the Police Headquarters Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said on Friday.
Earlier, on Thursday, KPK spokesman Johan Budi said five investigators tendered resignations from the anti-graft body.
But Boy said based on copies of the resignation letters six police officers with the rank of commissioner had tendered resignation from the KPK.
The six police investigators are Comr. Hendi Kurniawan, Comr. Rizki Agung Prakoso, Comr. Egy Adrian Zues, Comr. Yudhistira Midyahwa, Comr. Irfan Rifai, and Comr. Popon A Sunggoro.
Boy said they tendered resignation as KPK investigators upon their own request.
"The reason behind their resignation is that they want to develop their career at the National Police as their institution after they have received experience during their assignment at the KPK," he said.
He denied an allegation that the police had pressured the six investigators into resigning from the KPK after they had worked for the agency for four to five years.
The police had advised them to follow the KPK`s resignation procedure, he said.
"As they are seconded to the KPK leadership at this moment they are advised to comply with the KPK`s rule whether or not it will extend their assignment," he said.
He said the six investigators still worked with the KPK so they must follow the agency`s rules.
Separately, on Friday, Deputy National Police Chief Comr. Gen. Nanan Sukarna said the investigators had the right to develop their career at each law-enforcing agency.
Boy went on to say the National Police Headquarters also had received an application from the KPK leadership to replace two police investigators.
The two investigators are Adj. Snr. Comr. Mulya Hakim Solichin and Adj. Snr. Comr. Elizben Purba.
The KPK and the National Police have been involved in a new standoff following the KPK`s move to investigate a corruption case surrounding the procurement of vehicle simulators at the National Police Traffic Corps.
