"He should report the case to law enforcers, not just having it with media publications," Golkar Chairman Aburizal Bakrie said.
Medan, N Sumatra (ANTARA News) - Golkar Party General Chairman Aburizal Bakrie advised State-Owned Enterprise Minister Dahlan Iskan to report to legal institutions lawmakers` alleged attempt to extort money from state companies.

"He should report the case to law enforcers, not just having it with media publications," the Golkar chairman said after attending a Golkar function here on Wednesday night.

But Aburizal refused to respond to the alleged report that certain members of the House of Representatives (DPR) had tried to extort state-owned companies for `tribute money`.

"There is no use to respond to it as there is no proof," he said.

The same opinion was also voiced by Indra J Piliang, a Golkar associate chairman for research and development affairs, who said that Dahlan should have evidence and report it to law enforcers.

Although Dahlan has reported the alleged case to the DPR`s Ethics Council, he should also report the case to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Police Headquarters and the Attorney General`s Office (AGO).

"There is no problem is he reports to the law enforcers," Indra said.

Indra said his party would give sanctions to its cadres who were proven involved in the extortion case.

But, he said, the matter should be proven first through the legal avenues to avoid slanders. "At the beginning, he said 10 lawmakers but later he said two persons."

Earlier, Minister Dahlan said he had a list of ten legislators who once asked for tribute money from state companies.

He promised to disclose the names of legislators if he was officially summoned by the DPR.

On Monday, the minister fulfilled his promise revealing the names of legislators that have extorted state-owned companies to the DPR Ethic Council.

He however did not tell all allegedly involved in the case saying that he had only reported two and three cases that have been supported with accountable evidence.

To follow it up "now let the state-owned companies` board of directors concerned report them to the DPR`s Ethic Council (BK), the State Audit Board (BPK) or the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)," he said.

The minister that oversees 141 state-owned companies arrived at the DPR at 9.30am or an hour earlier than the schedule.

On why he would not tell the names to newsmen Dahlan denied he had been interfered saying he only would not like to impress as if he wanted to "clean up" other institutions.

He said what was important was he had met the BK`s summon and so it would up to BK to follow it up.

BK`s chairman, Prakoso, has earlier pledged he would investigate the case and if Dahlan`s report was true sanctions would certainly be given to those involved and he would also report the case to the law enforcement agency.(*)
