"The Japanese investors expressed their interest in a meeting between Pekanbaru Mayor Firdaus MT and Japanese Embassy counselor on Friday," Pekanbaru Industry and Trade Service Head Elsyabrina said here on Sunday.
"They are interested because the city has rapidly developed in recent years," she noted.
Elsyabrina mentioned some sectors which have potential business opportunities for investment, such as communications, clean water, transportation and marine tourism.
Previously, Firdaus MT has given the positive response to the investment plans.
"The Japanese investors have seen a lot of opportunities for having cooperation with the Pekanbaru municipal administration. I hope the cooperation will soon be established," he said.
He stated that the investors will be provided with adequate infrastructures to support their investment.
Moreover, the Japanese Embassy counselor has planned to observe the potential sectors in Pekabaru to be developed in a larger scope of cooperation. (*)
