...had no legal documents...
Garut, W Java (ANTARA News) - Thirty-five illegal immigrants from Middle Eastern countries were arrested by the Water Police in Garut waters, West Java, on Thursday.

Head of Water Police, Adjunct Commissioner (AKP) Asep Suherli, stated that the immigrants comprising seven women, 13 men, and 15 children were arrested at around 3 am local time.

"The immigrants had no legal documents, and we detained them at Santolo Beach for investigation," he said here on Thursday.

According to data collected from the Garut water police unit, some illegal immigrants managed to escape arrest and sailed off to Australia.

"However, local fishermen are cooperating with the police in their search for other illegal immigrants," Suherli noted.

"Some 150 illegal immigrants recently landed in Cidaun region (Cianjur district). They were supposed to pick up the immigrants we have just arrested. They have probably fled now," he added.

After initial investigations at Santolo Beach, the detained immigrants will be handed over to the immigration office.
