"Children frequently get intimidated by science."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A total of 25 representatives from 12 science centres will participate in a capacity development seminar, to be held here from November 19-30.
"The seminar is aimed at improving the ability of the science centre staff to communicate scientific subjects with the community in an easily understandable way," Central Science and Technology Demonstration (PP-IPTEK) director Sukro Muhab said here on Monday.
He noted that the science centres operating in various parts of the country play a key role in raising awareness of science and technology among the younger generation.
"Children frequently get intimidated by science. But science centres can make science fun and for them," Sukro pointed out.
In the future, he added, such science centres will be established in all the 33 provinces of the country in an effort to help children learn science.
"The United States and Australia will help provide the teaching aids, because such assistance is part of global science cooperation agreements," Sukro explained.
The science centre staff will receive training from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), Questacon (Australia) and Exploratorium (USA).
