"The UN should immediately find a comprehensive."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Association of Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals (ICMI) has urged the Indonesian government to escalate the problem between Palestine and Israel, to the International Court.

"The government should take the conflict between Palestine and Israel to the International Court," said Nanat Fatah Natsir, Presidium Chairman of the ICMI, on Thursday.

Indonesia should garner the support of the nations, that are against the Israeli aggression, and bring their case to the United Nations, said Natsir, former rector of the Bandung Islamic State University (UIN).

They should push Israel to the negotiation table.

"The UN should immediately find a comprehensive, lasting and a peaceful solution in the Middle East," he said.

The UN body should also supervise the ceasefire, to ensure that no party breaks the agreement.

"After the ceasefire, Israel should withdraw its troops from Gaza," he stated.

Indonesia`s foreign affairs ministry has issued a press statement, urging all conflicting parties to end military actions, in order to prevent civilians from becoming victims.

The ministry also urged them to return to the negotiation table, to find a peaceful solution.

The Indonesian government has taken powerful steps in various fora, since the escalation of violence in Gaza.
