Jakarta (ANTARA News) - National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo said three people are still being questioned as witnesses in connection with the death of Metro Daily journalist Aryono Longgotu in Manado, North Sulawesi on Sunday.

"Let us just wait for the results of the investigation. Police have questioned four people as witnesses and one of them has been named suspect in the incident," he said here on Monday.

He said further investigation would be continued by the North Sulawesi police command.

Regarding the motive Pradopo said "for the time being it was known that the perpetrator was drunk when committing the crime. However further investigation still has yet to be finished."

Police in Manado have named JK alias Jimmy (17) as the suspect in the incident. He was caught at his residence in Dendengan Dalam in the sub-district of Tikala.

Jimmy has confessed before the police that he had stabbed the victim several times.

The body of the victim who used to cover the activities of the Manado resort police command was buried at a public cemetery in Banjer, Tikala.

The incident occurred on Jalan Mogot 4, Tikala Baru. An eye- witness said at around 4am on Sunday morning the victim asked him to find a food stall but on the way he stopped after receiving a cellphone call from his friend.

"At the time two people approached them saying `you are the ones who have caused havoc by blaring your motorcycle engines, are you`," he said.

Seeing the unfavorable situation he fled to get help but "the victim remained on location, he said.

The victim was later found dead with multiple stab wounds on his body. (*)
