Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA News) - Seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack at a police station in Pirime, Lanny Jaya district, in Papua Province, on November 27 that left three officers dead.

The Papua regional police command spokesman, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Gede Sumerta, said here on Friday six of the suspects were arrested in the inland village of Assologaima and the other one in Piramid.

The six suspects are by their initials KW (40), LK (22), TW (24), GK (35), DTT (45) and TT (17) while the other one is YW.

He said the police confiscated among others separatist "Morning Star" flags and National Papua Army (TPN)/ Free Papua Movement (OPM) documents from them.

He said the police had been forced to shot YW as he defied the arrest. YW is now being treated at the Wamena regional general hospital.

He said the suspects are now still being questioned with regard to their roles in the attack.

He said the police helped by the military (TNI) are still chasing other members of the group.

One of the dead victims in the attack at the Pirime police station was Second Inspector Rofli Takubesi, who was the chief of the police station. The others were Brigadier Daniel Mukuker and First Brigadier Jefri Rumkoem. (*)
