According to a written statement from Information and Media Director of Foreign Ministry PLE Priatna on Tuesday, the two workers who were caught in different cases were scheduled to return to Indonesia on Tuesday using a Saudi Airlines` plane in the accompany of Indonesian Embassy staff in Riyadh.
"The Karsih binti Ochim case was picked up in national media reports, including online media, that Karsih will get death sentence in Riyadh on charges of poisoning a child to death in 2008," Priatna said.
However, after various investigations, the allegation leveled against the worker who came from Karawang, West Java and had worked in Saudi Arabia since 1999, was not proven.
"Thanks to efforts and approach to related parties in Saudi Arabia, the case was finally resolved. The Embassy in Riyadh also managed to ask Karsih`s employer to give her right, namely eight month salary," he said.
While Salma binti Ujang was arrested for allegedly stealing her employer`s money.
"With intensive approach to the authorities in Saudi Arabia, the embassy in Riyadh finally succeeded in asking employer`s forgiveness for Salma for her theft charges," he said.
In the meantime, the Embassy is also still having negotiations with the relevant parties in Saudi Arabia for the forgiveness of another migrant worker, Satinah, who was sentenced to death on September 13, 2011.
She has been detained after allegedly murdering her employer, Nura Al Garib.
The success of negotiations to obtain forgiveness for Satinah will depend on whether her employer`s family would accept a forgiveness money of Rp21 billion which is expected to be borne by the Indonesian government and the insurance consortium which dispatched her to Saudi Arabia.(*)
