Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Yudhoyono has expressed concern over a fatal road accident involving Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa's son Rasyid Amrullah Rajasa, according to presidential spokesman Julian Pasha.

"The President has been informed of the fatal accident involving Hatta Rajasa's son. He is very concerned," he said at the State Palace here on Wednesday. Rajasa has a family relationship with Yudhoyono, that his daughter, Aliya, is the wife of Edhie Yudhoyono, youngest son of Yudhoyono.

Pasha stated that the president had communicated with the chief economic minister, Hatta Rajasa, to discuss the accident.

Rasyid was involved with an accident that claimed two lives and injured three people on the Jagorawi toll road in south Jakarta on Tuesday morning.

He was driving a BMW that crashed into a Daihatsu Luxio at 5.45 am on Tuesday.

Two passengers in the Luxio - 57-year-old Harun and 14-month-old M Raihan - were killed in the crash, while three other passengers, Nung, Rifan and Supriyati, sustained minor injuries.

Hatta Rajasa offered condolences over the death of the two people.

"We express our deep condolences to the relatives of the victims," he said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Hatta stated that he was deeply saddened by the accident involving Rasyid, his youngest son.

"Shortly after hearing the news, I asked my family to provide assistance to the families of the victims immediately," he continued.

Hatta said his son was traumatized by the accident and currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

"We will soon visit the families of those killed and injured in the accident," he stated.

"I shall leave the legal proceedings to the police," Hatta said.

On Wednesday, the police named Rasyid as a suspect in the accident.

Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Senior Commissioner Rikwanto, said Rasyid could be sentenced to five years in prison, as per Regulation No. 22/2009, if found guilty.

He pointed out that the suspect was driving his car at 100km per hour on January 1.

"The suspect, who was returning after celebrating New Year's Eve with his friends, seems to have gotten sleepy while driving and ended up hitting a car in front of him," Rikwanto explained.
