There has been no concrete step taken toward construction of the toll road until the end of 2012, head of Dumai land office Wan Fahrizal Noor told ANTARA News here on Sunday.
"Land clearing was to be completed in 2012 by a team made up of provincial and city officials, but it is not as expected," Wan Fahrizal said.
He said data have not been completed about the owners of the land to be used for the toll road project.
As the land to be used is not yet fixed, the city administration of Dumai has not proposed fund for the project in its 2013 budget, he said.
The toll road project will need land clearing in the sub-district of Bukit Kapur, he added.
Parts of the land are owned by PT Chevron, a US oil company and forest lands, he said.
He said the toll road is urgently needed as the old highway between Dumai and Pekanbaru had been overcrowded with heavy trucks and buses.
Meanwhile, head of the highway service at the Dumai public works office Wan Ramli said his office has not received order for technical implementation of the project from the provincial administration.
