"The trees hit nine cars and three houses."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - About 81 big trees collapsed in Jakarta when the city was hit by strong winds on January 10, said an official.

"The trees hit nine cars and three houses. About five billboards also collapsed due to strong winds on Thursday," said a spokesperson for the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) on Friday.

West Jakarta was hit badly by strong winds on Thursday. Close to 55 trees and billboards collapsed as a result of strong winds. In addition, four cars and three houses were damaged.

Jakarta`s Disaster Mitigation Agency and other related institutions are cleaning the city.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recently stated that Jakarta will be hit by strong winds over the next two days. The Narella tropical cyclone is said to be the cause of strong winds and heavy rain in Jakarta.
