Kalianda, Lampung (ANTARA News) - The Police Sector Unit of Bakauheni Harbor Area (KSPK) have arrested six illegal Burmese immigrants who wanted to sail across the Sunda Strait to Merak Harbor, Banten.

"The seven foreigners were arrested on Sunday (Jan 13) evening at around 6:30 p.m. local time before they could cross the Strait," Head of KSKP Bakauheni Adjunct Senior Commissioner Agung Cahyono said in Bakauheni on Monday.

The illegal immigrants were arrested on a bus, with vehicle registration number BK 7093 DY. They are Syah Alam, Imran Rahman, Abu Hanif, Abu Kasim, Muhammad Mizan, and Takieo.

"They could not produce any legal documents such as a passport with a visa to enter Indonesia," Cahyono stated.

The immigrants were suspected to have entered Indonesian waters on a fishing boat from the traditional port in Malaysia on their way to Sumatra.
