Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Flood is still inundating parts of Thamrin road in Central Jakarta on Thursday afternoon.

In accordance with ANTARA`s observation, a 40 centimeter-high water is spotted in front of Bank of Indonesia building. The location which is only about 700meters away from Presidential Palace cannot be passed by either motorcycles or small cars.

Flood also inundating area in front of Sarinah shopping center in Thamrin road. Water ranging from 10 centimeters to 1,5 meters is flooding the area.

Up till now people are still gathering on the side of the road observing the situation or just taking pictures of the flooded area.

Several trucks from the National Armed Forces and Disaster Mitigation Agency pass through the road - which is home to many office buildings - to offer people a lift to safer location.

Darman, a local people, said the flood had actually receded on Thursday noon, but the water was rising again later.

"I am now waiting for the flood to recede. I am carrying my motorcycle, but it is impossible for me to pass by this road now," he said.

National Disaster Mitigation Agency earlier stated 15,447 Jakartans are forced to evacuate due to Thursday flood that hit the capital city.
