The head of state said that usually in countries having a high economic growth, the gap between the haves and the have nots is widening.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has said economic growth should have a proper plan of action to help address the social gap.

The head of state when speaking in a cabinet meeting on economic issues here on Tuesday said that usually in countries having a high economic growth, the gap between the haves and the have nots is widening.

To prevent such a social gap, the president ordered regional administrations to have a plan of action and program implementation which are appropriate to eradicate poverty.

Yudhoyono hailed the presentation by the National Economic Committee (KEN) which focused among other things on addressing the social gap.

"The recommendations are useful for decision making and program of action in various fields," the president stated.

Besides providing recommendations on how to narrow down the social gap, KEN also gave inputs on the state budget for development and trade management particularly concerning food commodities in order to give optimal benefits for the people.

The cabinet meeting was attended by all ministers and members of the presidential advisory team. (*)
