Police used two sleuth hounds to help in the search, Agam police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Asep Ruswanda said here Sunday.
Six victims were already found dead, Asep said, adding the rain triggered landslides struck when most people were still in their bed that morning at 05.30 local time.
He said he would send 100 police officers to help in the search and evacuate the victims.
Meanwhile, district military chief Lt. Col. Trias Wijarnako said 100 soldiers would also be involved in the search.
The district public works service helps by bringing in heavy equipment.
The six dead victims already found by the rescue workers are identified as Nusrina (55), Juliati (30), Martini (60), Tarajudin (60), Asril (60) and Padri (9).
