Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A state owned oil and gas company, PT Pertamina, is set to evaluate geothermal drilling operations after a landslide killed six workers of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy in Kerinci district, Jambi.

Pertamina`s President Director, Karen Agustiawan, has instructed officials at the company to evaluate geothermal drilling operations, said PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy's (PGE) Corporate Secretary, Adiatma Sardjito, on Monday.

"The President Director has instructed officials at the Pertamina Geothermal Energy to evaluate all geothermal drilling operations. The officials are required to look into extreme weather conditions and natural disasters that may pose a risk to workers," said Adiatma.

Karen Agustiawan visited the place which was affected by the landslide on January 27. The landslide had occurred on January 26. Karen Agustiawan was accompanied by Pertamina's Upstream Director, Muhammad Husen, Pertamina`s Director General, Luhur Budi Djatmiko, and Pertamina Geothermal Energy's Director General, Slamet Riadhy.

The deadly landslide occurred on January 26 at around 7.30 pm in the Pertamina`s Geothermal Energy`s operation area in Kerinci B-1, Penuh River, Kerinci district, Jambi, after heavy downpours hit the region at 3pm.

Five workers died while having their dinner.

The five victims were Yanto (33), an ambulance driver, Triyono (55), Moh Nasoka (41), Ahmad Saikhu (40), and Miswanto (29).

According to Adiatma, casualties have been given medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

Five other workers had sustained injuries because of the landslide.
