"The names will be submitted tomorrow. The President is now on a working visit in Central Java," Firmansyah, the president`s special aide for economic and development affairs, said in a short message text on Thursday.
But he declined to disclose the names of the candidates.
Bank Indonesia Governor Darmin Nasution will end his term of office on May 22, 2013. Under the law, the President must submit the names of candidates for Bank Indonesia governorship three months earlier.
This means that the names of the candidates must reach the DPR on February 22 at the latest.
Member of the House Commission XI Harry Azhar Azis of the Golkar Party faction said earlier the President must propose a maximum of three candidates for the central bank governorship to be discussed at a House plenary session.
The candidates will later undergo a fit and proper test before the House chooses one of them.
Darmin Nasution is widely tipped to seek second term of office as the central bank governor.
Bank Mandiri chief economist Destry Damayanti said Darmin Nasution deserved to be re-elected for a second term as Bank Indonesia governor, citing consistent monetary policies issued while he was in office.
Meanwhile, economist Mirza Adityaswara said Darmin Nasution who will end his term of office on May 22 has a great chance to be re-elected for the second term in light of his good performance.
The DPR will also decide replacement for Budi Mulya as deputy Bank Indonesia governor.
Bank Indonesia has proposed two candidates to replace Budi Mulya. They are Perry Wardjiyo and Hendar. "We will choose one of them," Harry Azhar said.(*)
