"Only the President knows about it."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Chief economic minister Hatta Rajasa said he still did not know who would be the next finance minister to replace Agus Martowardojo.

"Only the President knows about it," he said here on Thursday but he assured the person would be ready before the deadline in May.

He said the President has already had names of the persons to be chosen to fill the post, adding that the persons are experienced persons in macro-economy and also have so far been been reported in the media.

"The President will choose the best including from names that have spread widely in the media so far but only him who knows who the person will be," he said.

Hatta denied that he would double as chief economic minister and finance minister, saying he has been too busy being a coordinating minister for economic affairs.

"I am too busy. I even just arrived tonight from Myanmar," he said showing how busy he has been and so it would be impossible for him to double.

Among the names that have spread so far include Chatib Basri, currently chief of the Investment Coordinating Board, Mahendra Siregar, current deputy finance minister, Fuad Rahmany, the director general of tax and Gita Wirjawan, the trade minister.

Deputy finance Anny Ratnawati meanwhile declined to comment when asked about her possibility to become the new finance minister.

Agus Martowardojo has been chosen to become the central bank governor (Bank Indonesia) for 2013-2018 to replace Darmin Nasution who would end his term of office in May.
