There should be no time gap.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has said the government will raise subsidized fuel prices only when the compensation for the poor is ready.

"The fuel prices will be increased when the compensation funding is ready," the president said when opening the National Development Planning Meeting here on Tuesday.

He said the government wants to implement the new pricing of subsidized fuel at the same time with the compensation for the poor.

"There should be no time gap. So It will depend on the readiness of the compensation funds. The government has prepared the plan. What our plan will be, for how long, we will inform them soon to the House of Representatives (DPR) in the form of draft amended state budget (RAPBN-P) 2013," he added.

He hoped the deliberation about the RAPBN-P by the government and the Parliament would finish in May, so both the compensation and fuel price hike could be implemented.

"The government hopes the APBN-P deliberation could be accelerated. I hope we can make consultation. I want this May, the APBN-P deliberation could be concluded because there is a sense of urgency, and so the compensation for the poor," he said.

He said the reduction of subsidized fuel volume is a must to ease the budget`s burden and maintain the healthy fiscal.
