Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Crescent and Star Party (PBB) is preparing 10 candidates to substitute Susno Duadji, who failed to meet the condition as the party`s hopeful for the legislative body, in accordance with General Election Commission or KPU`s regulation.

"We will discuss the 10 names and select the best of them," PBB Secretary General B.M. Wibowo said here on Wednesday.

In accordance with PBB`s criterion, the figure who will substitute Susno should be more qualified, Wibowo said, indicating that (retired) military and police officers are part of the 10 names.

Wibowo said PBB accepted the KPU`s decision which notified on Tuesday (May 7) about Susno`s failure to become a legislative member candidate.

KPU in its regulation number 13/2013 as amendment to the KPU`s regulation number 7/2013 regarding the nomination of members for the House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Representative Council (DPD) and Regional Legislative Council stipulated that the nomination letter and list of hopefuls should be proved with a statement saying someone was never sentenced in prison based on court decision and binding.

Susno has been sentenced to 3.5 years` imprisonment by the Jakarta district court.

The court also convicted Susno of two counts of corruption in March 2011, sentencing the once-prominent cop to three years, six months in prison.

He was found guilty of misappropriating Rp8 billion ($823,000) in security funds in 2008 for the West Java gubernatorial elections when he served as chief of the provincial police force.

He also accepted a Rp500 million bribe to influence the outcome of a legal dispute over the ownership of a Riau fish farm in 2009.

Wibowo said further that he had met Susno on Monday (May 6) informing about the latter`s failure to meet the condition for the legislative body`s nominee.(*)
