Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked the new Army Chief, Lt. Gen. Moeldoko, to promote professionalism and soldiers` relationship with the people.

"I certainly have given some advises to the new army chief so that soldiers would be more professional and capable and close to the people," he said at his office when announcing the name of the new army chief here on Monday.

Lt.Gen. Moeldoko, who is currently deputy army chief of staff, was named new army chief to replace General Pramono Edhie Wibowo who had entered retirement.

"I agreed with the defense forces (TNI) commander`s proposal to prepare a replacement for the army chief who would retire (and) I have chosen and proposed Lt.Gen. Moeldoko (to replace him), who is currently deputy army chief," he said.
