The number of schools offering Cambridge qualifications in Indonesia has risen significantly over the past year. Schools in Indonesia made over 28 000 exam entries for Cambridge international qualifications, a rise of 15 per cent since 2012.
There are now 166 Cambridge schools in Indonesia, and more than 9000 schools in 160 countries make up the Cambridge learning community worldwide.
The core subjects that remain most popular among learners in Indonesia at Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge International AS and A Level are maths, physics and biology.
Mr Gary Tan, Head of Schools and CEO, Raffles International Group of Schools, Jakarta, said: "We choose Cambridge IGCSE because of the rigor of the curriculum and global recognition that it provides. The curriculum nurtures and develops our students' knowledge, understanding, skills and provides the flexibility for our group of schools to innovate and develop a unique programme that is in alignment with our school values. The close collaboration with Cambridge has provided us with access to world class resources, opportunities for professional development and the sharing of best practices. Most of all, the strength of the Cambridge IGCSE is internationally recognised and has provided an international pathway for all our students to continue their studies around the world."
Ben Schmidt, Regional Director for Asia Pacific, Cambridge International Examinations, said: "Cambridge qualifications have a proven reputation for being an excellent preparation for university, employment and life beyond. We support our schools in Indonesia and around the world to develop learners who are confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged.
