This is the time for us to introduce the Korean films after Indonesians get used to the K-drama and K-pop."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Fifth Korea Film Festival (KFF) will screen ten Korean box office movies for free in Jakarta and Bandung, West Java, from June 25 to 30, 2013.

The Director of Korean Cultural Center (KCC), Kim Seok-gi, said at the press conference here on Thursday that the KFF was held to commemorate Indonesia and South Korea 40th bilateral relationship this year.

Kim said all the moviegoers need to do to watch these movies is to come to the Blitzmegaplex theaters at Pacific Place mall in Jakarta and Paris Van Java in Bandung two hours prior of the screening to get the ticket or register in pre-booked period on June 21 to 25.

"We have cooperated with the Jive to select these ten films that might represent Korea, particularly its sides other than the pop culture which has been popular among Indonesian people," said Kim. The Jive is a film distributor company in Indonesia.

"This is the time for us to introduce the Korean films after Indonesians get used to the K-drama and K-pop," he added.

The KFF will be launched by the Korean Ambassador to Indonesia, Kim Young-sun on June 25 at the Blitzmegaplex Grand Indonesia Mall in Jakarta. The opening will be marked with the screening of a film entitled "Boomerang Family" and will be attended by its director Song Hae-sung and also the main actors Park Hae-il and Yoon Jae-moon.

The other films to be screened in KFF are "A Wonderful Moment", "Deranged", "How to Use Guys with Secret Tips", "Masquerade", "Miracle in Cell No 7", "Runway Cop", "Pluto", "The Grand Heist", and "The Thieves".

Rusli Edi, as a representative from Jive, said those ten movies were selected to meet the favor of Indonesian moviegoers in all genres, from romantic comedy, thriller, horror, action, to epic-history films.

"We have a complete menu for the Indonesian moviegoers, especially for the Korean fans," he said.

"Moreover, all of these movies were just released in 2012 and even some of them in 2013. Hence, I will say we deliver these movies `fresh from the oven`," added Rusli.

Meanwhile, Rusli said there was no particular reason of the "Boomerang Family" had been chosen as the opening film. It is just to coincide with visit of the film`s director and main actors to Indonesia.

The KFF is an annual event hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea since 2009 and aimed to introduce Korean traditional and contemporary culture through the movies. For further information about the KFF and movies schedule, please visit www.blitzmegaplex.com/koreanfilmfestival.
