God Willing, the PKS will fight all out to defend the people`s aspirations in rejecting subsidized fuel oil price hikes."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) will fight against the plan to increase subsidized fuel oil price during the plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR), one of its executives said.
"God Willing, the PKS will fight all out to defend the people`s aspirations in rejecting subsidized fuel oil price hikes," Indra, an associate chairman of PKS, said here on Monday.
He said that it was not only the PKS faction in the DPR which would reject the government`s plan to raise subsidized fuel prices. Indra pointed out there were three other factions which rejected the plan.
Apart from that, there are also hundreds of thousands of members of `street parliament` who will take to the street to reject the price hikes.
"They are composed of students, laborers, farmers, fishermen, youth and mass organizations and hundreds of millions of people who expressed rejections to the plan," he said.
Indra said they would take to the street because the policy would badly affect the people.
He called on the government and political parties which supported the plan to re-think their support for fuel oil price increase.
Indra said that if the government wanted to save on the state budget, it should not slash budget which concerned the people`s need.
The House of Representatives is expected to hold a plenary session on Monday to take a decision on whether it would endorse the government`s proposed draft 2013 revised state budget.
The proposed draft revised state budget included a government plan to increase fuel prices and provide compensation for poor families who would be affected by fuel oil price hikes.
