Jakarta, Indonesia, June 20, 2013 - (ANTARA) -The Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia will once again hold the annual Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) this 16-20 October 2013 in the country's largest expo facility, the Jakarta International Expo, with the aim of boosting exports to further lift the national economy.
"By carrying the theme 'Trade with Remarkable Indonesia' for this 28th TEI, the Ministry hopes to create a positive perception of Indonesia as successful with managing its abundant natural resources, the application of technology, the power of Indonesian design, and the skilled labour of the country's professional workforce," said Minister of Trade Gita Wirjawan.
"We are confident in achieving this goal, and portraying an image of Indonesia as a country capable of producing quality products which can meet international and eco-friendly standards," explains Gita Wirjawan.
This image of Indonesia will be realized through efforts to leverage added value, both in terms of the quality of products themselves as well as product development and packaging. Added value can be further achieved by employing Indonesia's abundant natural resources, with manufacturing conducted in a focused and sustainable manner.
"With mastering appropriate technology transfer and maintaining international standards within our professional workforce, growth in Indonesia's trade sector has shown rapid progress. Adoption of environmentally friendly technologies, and the application of local wisdom as an independent strength, have become added value towards competitiveness of Indonesian export products," says Gita Wirjawan.
The 28th TEI is also part of Indonesia's preparation to welcome free trade in the ASEAN region through the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), which will take effect in 2015. AEC is the regional economic integration in the ASEAN region that will enable a flow of products and services, skilled labor and investment to enter to and from ASEAN countries with minimum hindrance.
TEI 2013 will be held on an area of 60,000 m2 with approximately 2,000 participants. Moreover, it is expected that the exhibition will be visited by more than 10,000 international buyers and 25,000 domestic consumers, and reach the trade transactions target of USD 2 billion.
Products that will be displayed at TEI 2013 include automotive components, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, electrical equipment, footwear, furniture, rubber and its products, textile and its products, essential oil, handicrafts, herbal medicines, jewelry and accessories, leather and its products, processed foods, farming products, building materials, chemical materials, food and beverages, household equipment, breakables, paper products and sports equipment.
Apart from the main products, the exhibition will also present the service sector such as trained workforces that are knowledgeable and meet international standards in mining, banking, and insurance.
Companies that will participate in the Expo have been selected for their excellent products, as well as for professional workforce procurement and management, having insight, skill and reliable production ability.
Increased added value along with diversification of export products will become significant as international markets become more competitive and complex. The Indonesian economy in 2013 remains robust despite the economic crises that have affected several countries in Europe and America. The Government remains optimistic that national economic growth in 2013 will range from 6.0 to 6.2%. The Ministry of Trade will continue as well to maintain export performance through downstreaming, as supported by the 28th TEI.
According to the Minister of Trade, the 28th TEI is a force in increasing Indonesian exports, representing an effort to improve Indonesia's exports to traditional countries, and in developing access and opportunities with non-traditional countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
In realizing the government's vision of making the TEI a prestigious annual event, the Directorate General for National Export Development (DGNED), Ministry of Trade, strives to continue improving coordination of expo activities, including planning, implementation and evaluation, and giving special attention to service after TEI to improve visitor satisfaction, particularly buyers from abroad. DJPEN is also coordinating with representative offices abroad in promoting 28th TEI.
TEI 2013 also includes Jakarta Fashion Week 2014, to be held on 19 - 25 October, Jogja Trade Expo 2013, to be held on 18 - 22 October in Yogyakarta, and the World Bali Seafood Show, to be held on 22 - 23 October at the Bali International Convention Centre, Westin Resort Nusa Dua Bali.
