Marty said the government has also coordinated with and explained to the Singaporean government about efforts to solve the problem.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesian foreign minister Marty Natalegawa said Indonesia has already taken efforts optimally to stop the haze from spreading to Singapore.

"The President has already ordered all parties concerned to take efforts optimally to overcome the core problem namely forest fires," he said when met at the office of the coordinating minister for economic affairs here on Friday.

He said the government has also coordinated with and explained to the Singaporean government about efforts to solve the problem.

"The Singaporean government could see what we have done so far and had supported to the efforts that we have taken. They also know that Indonesia has been the one that wished to overcome the problem the most. So the spirit is cooperation and partnership," he said.

To settle the problem the two countries` governments have also set up a forum for technical meetings involving the ministries concerned, he said.

In the forum for exchange of ideas and finding solutions the Indonesian government has explained about the present situation and steps already taken while Singapore has explained about conditions there.

"I think now is the right moment for communication and sharing of information about latest developments as Indonesia has moved to overcome the disaster," Mary said.

Singapore has been covered by haze since Monday following forest fires in Sumatra. (*)
