Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA News) - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said an earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale shook the northeast part of North Gorontalo at 2.04 am on Friday.

Head of Lampung`s BMKG Yuyarman said the location of the quake was recorded at the coordinate of l.63 degrees northern latitude and 122.94 degrees eastern longitude.

Its epicenter was 93 km northeast of North Gorontalo at a depth of 10 km.

On Thursday, the provinces North Sulawesi and Gorontalo were also hit by an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter, causing panic to residents.

The earthquake took place in Bolmong District, North Sulawesi at 7m local time on Thursday. "It triggered strong tremors so that local residents in the two provinces became panicked," a resident said on Thursday.

According to the BMKG, the epicenter of the earthquake took place at a depth of 10 km about 131 km southeast of Bomong District, North Sulawesi, near the border with the Gorontalo Province.(*)
