Jakarta (ANTARA News) - As many as 6,326 schools in Indonesia have been confirmed ready by the Ministry of Education and Culture to implement the 2013 national curriculum in the 2013-2014 academic year starting on July 15.

"The curriculum, however, is not implemented in all schools. It is limited and gradually. It will be implemented in stages every year," Spokesperson of the Development and Research Division of Education and Culture Ministry Hendarman said here Monday.

The 2013 Curriculum will be implemented this year in the first and fourth grades of elementary schools, seventh grade of junior high schools, and tenth grade of senior high schools in 295 districts.

"Furthermore, in 2014, it will be implemented on the second, fifth, eighth, and ninth grades," Hendarman said adding that the curriculum was expected to be fully implemented by 2015.

Hendarman said, 1,006 schools out of the 6,326 was not the targeted schools to implement the 2013 curriculum, however, they proposed to and be approved by the Ministry to participate in the new curriculum implementation.

The Ministry would keep monitoring and evaluating the volunteering schools, Hendarman said.

The Ministry claimed to have conducted education and training over 61,034 teachers to prepare the 2013 curriculum,

The trained teachers consisted of 572 national instructors, 4,740 core teachers, and 55,762 targeted teachers.(*)
