"I believe I am clean," Jero Wacik said.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik claims he is not involved in the graft case of former Upstream Oil and Gas Regulator Chief Rudi Rubiandini.

"I believe I am clean," he said after President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono delivered his state address before the parliament, in conjunction with the anniversary of Indonesia`s Independence Day.

Recently, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Rudi Rubiandini, former head of SKK Migas, who is suspected of taking US$400,000 from Kernel Oil Pte. Ltd. in bribes.

The minister will transfer the case to KPK.

"Let the KPK handle it. If it has the necessary evidence, it will proceed accordingly. Let the legal system do its work," he said, when asked if he was ready if KPK summoned him for questioning in connection with the case.

Jero Wacik has urged all parties to have trust in the country`s legal system.

"Pak (Mr) Rudi has been arrested by KPK. So, let us leave it to the legal system. Do not comment much on it," he said.

Kernel Oil is a company that has won tenders at SKK Migas several times.

Meanwhile, SKK Migas has plans to carry out open bidding for crude oil that could not be absorbed by state-owned oil company Pertamina.

Kernel Oil is allegedly one of the bidders and the bribe it has given to Rudi is allegedly part of its efforts to win the bid. (*)
