"I hope your visit will strengthen the two countries` relations," the President said at the meeting.
"Our relations are not only between governments and parliaments but also business communities and people," he said.
President Yudhoyono said that in the past nine years the relations between the two countries had been good despite several problems that could later be settled well.
"In general the relations have been very well and I believe more opportunities would be opened for increasing them. There will also be a good opportunity for us to hear from you on how the two countries could further increase their relations," he said.
On the occasion Edward Royce said that the US continued monitoring developments in Indonesia, which has now become one of the world`s biggest democracy, including in the political field.
The two US congressmen was accompanied by charge d`affairs of the US embassy in Jakarta, Kristen Bauer, US embassy political adviser Ted Lyng, Royce`s staff member Szy Nien Su and several other staff members in the meeting.
President Yudhoyono meanwhile was flanked minister/state secretary Sudi Silalahi, cabinet secretary Dipo Alam, foreign minister Marty Natalegawa, and Indonesian Ambassador to the US Dino Patti Djalal.(*)
