We are coming up with polices to maintain economic stability and growth."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is ready to announce a package of economic policies as an anticipatory step to tackle economic problems in the country, said a senior economic minister.

"The president will announce the economic policy package on Friday," mentioned Chief Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa, after a coordination meeting on Thursday.

Finance Minister Chatib Basri, State Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan, Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan, Industry Minister MS Hidayat, and Agriculture Minister Suswono were present at the coordination meeting.

Hatta refused to reveal the details of the economic policy package but said it is a response to the turmoil in the financial market, the depreciation of the Indonesian currency, and the fall of the stock price index.

"We are coming up with polices to maintain economic stability and growth," he added.

Finance Minister Chatib Basri promised that he would explain the details of the package once the president makes the announcement tomorrow.

"I will explain the technical details after the president makes the announcement. In principle, the aim of the package is to maintain economic stability," he said.***3***
