Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Accor--the world`s leading hotel operator and market leader--said it had participated in the Garuda Indonesia Travel Fair 2013 (GATF) to promote tourism destinations in Indonesia.

"Our strategy of promoting our hotels and the tourism destinations where the hotels operate is the key to our success," Accor`s senior Vice President Gerard Guillouet said in a statement here on Tuesday.

Gerard pointed out that at as of the end of 2013, the hotel will be operating about 70 hotels in 21 cities across Indonesia, which had placed it in the right position to promote the tourism destinations across the country.

He further stated that in order to develop the tourism industry in Indonesia, it would continue building cooperation with its strategic business partners, such as GATF, BNI, Telkomsel and Telkom Indonesia.

Accor is present in 92 countries via its more than 3,500 hotels and 450,000 rooms. It employs more than 160,000 persons in Accor branded hotels worldwide.

Gerard revealed that during the GATF, which was held at the Jakarta Convention Center from September 13 to 15, Accor had promoted its "Great Prize, Great Location" deal, which offers hotel packages at special competitive fares.

Meanwhile, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said he was optimistic that the national tourism sector would continue to develop through cooperation between regional governments and private entities.

"The economic potential from our tourism sector remains high and will continue to be developed. Therefore I ask the regional governments and private parties to cooperate in developing the tourism sector," the president said in a post on his Twitter account @SBYudhoyono on Sunday.
