Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Yogyakarta will be hosting the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) conference from October 10 to 12, said Director General of Tourism Development at the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry Firmansyah Rahim on Friday.

Established in 1951, PATA is an international organisation that brings together tourism practitioners such as travel agents, hotel operators, administrators of tourist destinations, tour guides, educators, event organisers, and tourism officials.

"Tens of thousands of delegates from Indonesia and other countries are expected to attend the conference. Famous figures will give speeches during the event, including Indonesia`s Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy Mari Elka Pangestu, Austria`s Film Producer Titus Leber and Professor in Tourism Sector I Gde Pitana," explained Firmansyah.

According to him, the PATA conference allows participants to widen their networks, hopefully resulting in more investments in the tourism sector in this region.
