Philippine President Benigno Aquino was the first economic leader to board Philippines Airlines aircraft from Bali`s Ngurah Rai international airport soon after Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, chairman of the APEC Summit 2013, announced the results of the two-day meeting.
He was followed by China`s President Xi Jinping around thirty minutes later and then Papua New Guinea`s Prime Minister Peter O`Neill and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin, who last arrived in Bali at 12 noon hours on Monday, had less time to enjoy Bali`s atmosphere as his Ilyushin Il-96 took off just after Papua New Guinea prime minister`s departure.
On Tuesday morning, Ngurah Rai Airport was busy with hundreds of foreign tourists crowding international and domestic departure terminals despite announcements being made that the airport would be closed for commercial flights from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Due to the closure, 181 flights have been cancelled and 59 rescheduled, according to PT Angkasa Pura I airport operator spokesman.
The military and police personnel remained on guard along the roads connecting Nusa Dua, where the summit had been held, and the airport.
