Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will officially open the ninth Indonesian Palm Oil Conference (IPOC) in Bandung, West Java, on November 28, 2013.

The conference aims to discuss the current developments of the international oil palm industry and its 2014 outlook and also intends to promote the Indonesian oil palm trade internationally, said the IPOC 2013 organizing committees chairperson Mona Surya here on Wednesday.

Speakers of the conference will include Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Agriculture Minister Suswono, Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Mahendra Siregar, and Chairman of the National Economic Committee Chairul Tanjung.

The theme of the ninth IPOC and 2014 Price Outlook is "Managing Market, Strengthening Industry Value Chain."

The two-day conference will also discuss the challenges facing the oil palm industry such as climate change, the global market trend, the oil palm price outlook next year, population, and reforestation issues related to sustainable oil palm production in the future.

Some 1.5 thousand participants from 30 countries will take part in this years IPOC, as against 1.35 thousand participants from 36 countries last year.

The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition on the oil palm industry. Some 62 companies will participate in the expo, displaying various oil palm products and the latest technology and services in the oil palm industry, Mona Surya said.
