The prosecution office has delayed investigation of a Rp1.7 billion corruption case in the construction of the fence of the Emalamo airport in 2010, Ridwan, a local anti corruption champion, said here on Tuesday.
The contractor for the project identified as MU has been named a suspect but he remains free, Ridwan cited.
He said M. Mikroz, section head of the special criminal case of the North Maluku prosecution office , already received the dossier on MU, but the prosecutor had failed to act seriously on it.
Meanwhile, another suspect LM, former head of the Sula communication service, now in detention, is still awaiting further investigation.
Ridwan said the delay in handling the corruption case raised question leading to suspicion of flirtation in the law enforcement by the North Maluku prosecution office.
M Mikroz was not available for comment but separately head of the Ternate prosecution office Eri Satriana said the office had performed well saying the prosecution office had succeeded in settling a number of legal cases in 2013.
Eri said in 10 months after he took over the job, 15 cases have been settled at court and were already executed including cases carried over from last year.
He said the prosecution office has recovered Rp4.052 billion in state fund from the cases to be paid to the state treasury as non tax state revenue.
