Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono will visit the refugees of Mount Sinabung disaster in North Sumatra next week.

"The President and I plan to visit the refugees on January 23," stated Ani Yudhoyono at the Presidential Office on Thursday during a speech at the Plenary Meeting of Wives of the United Indonesian Cabinet Solidarity (SIKIB).

She expressed her concern over the plight of the refugees who have been living in the shelter camps for months now, due to the erratic eruptions.

The First Lady also expressed her concern over the flood disaster that has hit several part of Indonesia including Manado and Jakarta.

Ani pointed out that the floods that hit several areas in Manado, with waters rising as high as one-two meters and killing several people, have come as a surprise considering there were none last year.

Ani added that the disaster did not just happen in Indonesia alone. She said this in view of the Philippiness floods and the snowstorms in the United States.

She called upon the SIKIB members to continue their efforts in providing relief to the disaster victims.

"I thank all the members. We pray that all the victims who have suffered get strength and patience," she stated.

SIKIB, which consists of the wives of the ministers and officials of the first and second United Indonesia Cabinet, holds a plenary session every year at the beginning of each year.

The organization is engaged in social and humanitarian work through the five pillars, namely Indonesia Smart, Indonesia Healthy, Indonesia Green, Indonesia Creative and Indonesia Care.
