"The ongoing comprehensive partnership between Indonesia and the U.S. has defined a range of cooperation in various fields," Kerry stated in a speech at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs complex, Jakarta, on Monday.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry stated that bilateral relations between Indonesia and the United States have also increased, which is marked by the signing of the fourth joint commission meeting.
The agreement signing for the outcome of the IV Joint Commission Meeting is intended as a framework for the improvement of bilateral relations between Indonesia and the U.S. that have been established so far.
Besides this, Secretary of State John Kerry also expressed his condolences on behalf of the U.S. President Barack Obama to all the victims of the Mount Sinabung eruption at North Sumatra and Mount Kelud eruption at East Java, who had to flee from their homes.
Kerry�s visit to Jakarta was part of his series of trips to Seoul, Beijing, Jakarta and Abu Dhabi from December 13 to February 18, to meet with senior government officials and discuss various bilateral, regional and global issues.
Kerry had previously visited the Istiqlal Mosque and was the key note speaker on climate change at the U.S. Cultural Center @america in Jakarta, on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 16.
Previously, Kerry had also visited China and South Korea. Abu Dhabi will be the last country he will visit before returning to the United States.
During his two-day visit, Kerry reiterated that the United States appreciates Indonesias leadership in the face of increasing global challenges and looks forward to continue working with Indonesia on issues concerning climate change, security, democracy, regional integration and human rights .
