Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA News) - Golkar Party general chairman Aburizal Bakrie introduced two of former president Soehartos daughters at a campaign rally in Surabaya, the capital of East Java on Saturday.

"How are you? It isnt that life was better during the New Order and the Golkar era than now," one of the Soeharos daughters, Siti Hedijati, or Titik, said to supporters in her speech at Jatim Expo.

The presence of Titik and Siti Hardyanti at the rally was meant to attract supporters.

Titik, meanwhile, had also appealed to people in East Java to vote for Golkar so that life would return to what it had been during the 32 years of New Order government.

Speaking in the local Javanese language, she said many people lived happily during the New Order government of former president Soeharto.

Golkar, which was the dominant party during the Soeharto era, has often promoted Soehartos phrases, such as "Enak Jamanku", to mean "Life is better during my era, isnt it?" in an effort to lure the public to vote for the party in the April 9 legislative elections. (*)
